    Possible Causes of Headaches

    Some people have headaches or palpitations at night, especially in the cold season. So, without understanding the causes of the ailments, they visit doctors and take medicines, although sometimes the solution is more simple.

    One of the most common reasons is the "temperature–freshness-humidity" imbalance of indoor air. To keep out the cold, people close the windows, so the influx of fresh and humid air is reduced. The air trapped in the room before the windows are closed is dried by heating, and oxygen from it is consumed by people. The air becomes less humid, there is less oxygen in it, so the harmonious "breathing" of the brain and the entire human body becomes more difficult.

    Therefore, it is important to find the right balance of "temperature-freshness-humidity" of indoor air, but this balance is individual. It should be sought experimentally – through combination of slightly open windows in a room, a glazed balcony or loggia, as well as through regulation of heating. Many hot water radiators have taps or valves, and radiators without taps or valves can be covered with dry towels or blankets.

    In addition, everyone needs to remember that brain nutrition and brain commands go through the neck. If something goes the wrong way, your head may hurt. The position of the neck, head, and spine during sleep is especially important.

    A lot of trouble was caused by high and dense pillows on which the neck bends inharmoniously during sleep and the supply to the brain is disrupted. A pillow should be comfortable!

    And do not forget about the mattress: it should not be too soft or too hard – everyone chooses for himself.

    Bed clothes and blankets are substantial too: one should not feel hot or cold with them – one should feel fine.

    When and how much to sleep? It's again pretty individual. In general, you need to sleep AT NIGHT, because people are DAYTIME creatures and are endowed with sensory organs that work best during the DAY ;) Here is a table of sleep quality at different hours – it has helped many to improve their state of health: 12–14 notional hours of sleep per day are enough to restore strength of a healthy person (the left column: "Time of day"; the right column: "Value of 1 hour of sleep") :

    The amount and quality of sleep for any schedule

    Following these simple rules helps with sound and deep sleep. Remember that sleep is the most powerful natural health pill:

    • do not eat hard-to-digest food 3 hours before bedtime (it is better not to eat anything 2 hours before bedtime);
    • be careful with flour products, sweets, and stimulants like tea, coffee, or cocoa – 5 hours before bedtime;
    • turn off all phones at least an hour before bedtime;
    • turn off all loud noises at least an hour before bedtime;
    • in the evening, you can read something pleasant (listen to an audiobook) or watch a good movie;
    • when preparing for bed, as well as falling asleep, try to see, hear, and think only of good things, for example, to scroll through in your mind all the good and bright moments of your life, including those that have happened on the day you have just lived.

    We wish you to stay healthy!
